It's like lasagna. If you're using canned beans, I would rinse them. Don't just throw in the whole can. Enjoy!

Re: Food Storage Recipes: Enchilada Pie

Do you put all of the tortillas on the bottom and only layer the beans and cheese mixture? Or are the tortillas part of the layering so you only put half on the bottom and the other half at the beginning of the second layer? The recipe also says to wash and cook the beans. Is this applicable for the canned beans too? or is this if you are using dry beans?

Re: Food Storage Recipes: Enchilada Pie

There shouldn't be any need to "log on" to our site. It totally is amazing! (and a little bit intimidating). But your advice to start slowly and try one thing or the other in the techniques is great advice.

Re: Food Storage Recipes: Enchilada Pie

We tried this and found it was absolutely delicious. I did tweek it by adding corn. Thanks for a great recipe!

I didn't have a can of enchilada sauce and got to wondering what was in it. I found this recipe that is a hundred times better than any canned sauce, IMO. It makes 5 cups so there's enough for next time, too.
http://allrecipes.com/Recip...

Re: Food Storage Recipes: Enchilada Pie

yum yum yummy! I haven't yet. Maybe that should be a challenge for me. Also I have not tried it with powdered cheese. I store shredded cheese in my freezer and "count " that as food storage. -Julie

Re: Food Storage Recipes: Enchilada Pie

love this recipe. I can't wait to try it. I can't believe all the time you've put into this! Any idea how to make a homemade equivalent of enchilada sauce to make it completely from food storage. And what about cheese? I'm really wanting to use powdered cheese, but don't know if that would work in this case. Ideas?

Re: Food Storage Recipes: Enchilada Pie

Awesome post!!
