I leave the small ones around the middle like that so I can easily reach in and grab them without having to turn the shelves. It's easier than reaching over them to get to the big ones and have them knock over while I'm trying to shimmy out a big one from behind.

Shouldn't the smaller containers go on the outside of the circle so that when you spin it around, you can reach over them for the taller containers? Or did you display them this way to impress others who would never consider something so logical? ;)

I found a set of clear plastic food storage containers of 3 different sizes that all nest onto a lazy susan base. I use the containersa on my lazy susan. They were made by "The carousel GrouP from Norwalk CT. I have searched the internet and have not been successful.The unit is dated 1982. Still searching. Please let me know if you find anything

I'm also looking for triangular containers like Tammy mentioned. Just today, I found a scrap of a page from Sunset magazine's Feb 2007 issue that shows spices in triangular containers on a lazy susan and I WANT them! Unfortunately, I only have the photo and none of the product info.

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen triangular shaped food storage containters that would fit more efficiently on a lazy susan. I have looked for them everywhere and can't find any. I want to keep my flour and sugar etc but the square or rectangle containers are very awkward on the lazy susan.

What a wonderful site. I have an emergency kit, actually two, for two rigs. But I need to revamp my tiny storage area. I so want to win the wheat grinder. I was raised LDS, but now am a Catholic. I use many of the storage tips from the LDS. I use glass storage,because we live at the coast. We buy through a co-op, We have large food safe buckets, and store in those. I buy when on sale, and when we build our home, we will have mucho storage! I have many health issues, so this would be wonderful. Thank you for the blessing of this site.We love it ! Julia

rebecca, I tried to find the website for the PETE containers you mention...maybe they dont sell online? I would like more information if you have it, I am currently using Lock n Lock containers but yours sound great too. Thanks!

I love it! I have many things in clear containers, though a couple of the things were only there because my baby likes to pull things off the shelf of the pantry...and drag them to a carpeted room. And using the small containers was a great idea, I might start doing that for things I don't use as often.

Geez - It looks sooo Tidy.... We eat the 40ounce jars of Skippy so I save and clean those jars to use for bean storage here - I buy the 1 pound bags and can fit 2 in each jar - then into the freezer they go for longterm (kills off any hiding eggs)

I have never heard of canning meat....

Just a question I had about cooking your legumes/peas/beans. Whenever I try to use my dried beans, no matter how long I cook them, they still come out to be not as soft as the canned beans. What can I do to make these softer?

Very cool.. I use those exact containers for my dry goods legumes, oatmeal, rice, cocoa, cornstarch etc.. They are great and look nice!

Ahh...a girl after my own heart.:) I love organizing just about anything. Just looking at your pictures makes me want to do a better organizing job in my pantry. I use glass canning jars in various sizes with white plastic lids. Dh thinks it's funny that it makes me happy to stand at the pantry door and just look at our food storage.

If you're in Northern Utah, you should check out Industrial Supply & Container in West Salt Lake. They sell clear, square PETE containers in 1 gallon and half -gallon sizes. They're about $2.50 and $3 including the lid. They are AWESOME!! The big ones hold a whole #10 can. I love mine--and my pantry now looks so much neater.
